Pros

Nice Coworkers in my team. Nice building in Burnaby. I have no other words for Pros as the company treated me and many others very unfair.

Cons

I was hired amid Best Buy's most chaotic situation, stayed on and brought them through covid in the most successful way possible, only to be let go for no reason and with no appreciation after 19 months. They promised a work place that appreciates and honors the workers on my interview day; my experience was the opposite. They promised a great work life balance; my experience was the opposite. They promised great leadership, training and guidance and I received none throughout my time there. The company is chaotic and messy in term of work process, project management and leadership. They throw 100 tasks at you from various teams and all teams want it done as priority with no proper process and no management involvement. Hence it creates a chaotic workplace and extremely stressful situation most of the time. I encountered many cases of blame game and irresponsible accusations by other teams and my management could not handle the situation and never backed me up. Can't speak of other teams but favoritism happened in my team at BestBuy CHQ on managerial level. They let me go without providing a reason and hired people from abroad in Covid times. All my teammates were shocked and called me indicating they had no idea why or what was going on. Director of IT was a person of bad reputation amongst teams managers and workers. My advice: if you get an offer make sure you can handle lots of stress, no work life balance, no support, favoritism, and the likeliness of being let go without cause.

Pros

They were super flexible with my school schedule, and I had a lot of great experiences with people and managers. Really broadened my speaking and sales skills, which has massively improved my ability in interviews and the like.

Cons

I had some really bad managers sometimes. If we close at 9 and we're supposed to be out at 9:30 why are we consistently leaving at 11/12? Why do we have people on staff that obviously make other staff uncomfortable? Why am I guilt tripped because I need to leave at the time it says in my schedule due to other engagements? And when I relent and stay an hour later, why am I guilt tripped again? Some customers treat you poorly, management might stand up for you, but they're just as likely to throw you under the bus. I was threatened with a "talking to" because I turned away a customer because they were incredibly rude to me. That is all on top of increasing demands to sell, and decreasing likelihood of actually making a sale. There will be months where no one will sell much of anything, and you'll be threatened with a firing. That's after you worked 40 hours that week and you're the only person in your section. I closed 3-4 sections, got no help, and was forced to stay late or I'd be fired. Look, I met a lot of great people, it was fun sometimes, but god I have 10 bad stories for every 1 good one.
