Pros

This will be a true review not just fake like the last few that were created by management (no one leaves a company and says that there are no “cons” why would you leave then? There are some really great people working at BrightEdge, however, many of the best are gone due to poor management and lack of evaluation with the product itself. The tool has great possibilities, however, it has fallen behind tools like SEMRush and other small point tools. The customers only stay because of the CSM knowledge (if the CSM understands SEO).

Cons

I worked for BrightEdge for quite sometime and I must say that the one thing this place lacks is culture; they do not celebrate diversity and have made a lot of employees upset because of it. While working at BrightEdge the “N” word has been thrown around multiple time and by a VP that still works for the company. The same VP that used the “N” word also told an employee that “he did not understand what he was saying because he did not speak Mexican” even though the employee spoke perfect English and also the language is “Spanish”. These are just a few of the items that make BrightEdge a difficult place to work. If you ask any prior employee that worked at BrightEdge they will share some of the horror stories that go on in all offices. BrightEdge used to be the leading SEO platform and it is sad that the company cannot keep up with the times.

Pros

Elite product that is industry leading. Cold calling is a difficult job but selling this product makes cold calling easy and people listen on the other end of the line when you say BrightEdge. Training program at BrightEdge fosters success from day 1. At the beginning, you are immersed into the day to day environment of the company all while learning the ins and outs of the industry, hands on with the tool, learning scripts, how to handle objections and cold call at an elite level. So many people hit the ground running here and was fortunate to have BrightEdge as a foundation of my professional and sales career. Some of the things I learned here from day 1 and from my last day at the company I will carry with me for the remainder of my career. Culture is phenomenal, every person in the Chicago office looks out for one another and pushes you to be your best day after day. Everyone gets along and is accepting of one another, I have made lifelong friends at BrightEdge all while hitting my numbers, working hard, and making great money as an entry level sales rep. From 8-5 everyone in the office is locked in and grinding to hit their numbers and helping others do the same. On top of that, it is a fun environment where it makes coming into the office a luxury instead of a chore. I learned an incredible amount from sitting next to my peers and sitting next to leadership and taking advice from them and putting it into action on the salesfloor. Pay for an entry level role is 2nd to none. If you come in everyday with a drive and determination to hit your numbers it is impossible to fail with the resources you and guidance you receive along the way. Hit your numbers and you will make a ton of commission + base pay + overtime. This made it extremely easy to live in the city and live comfortably. Finally, senior leadership has a strong investment in their people and genuinely will do whatever it takes to help you advance your career. Perfect place to start your career, learn a ton about the tech space, make a bunch of money, gain valuable sales experience, and network!

Cons

Young company with growing pains but always open to hearing suggestions on the betterment of the company/office.

Pros

I love my coworkers and if you have a good team it will be worth it. It’s a good place to start as an SDR but you probably won’t last long. If you are willing to work to be your whole life and you are able to put up with being yelled at and criticized you can do very well and make a lot of money unfortunately a lot of people (rightfully so) cannot compartmentalize like that.

Cons

Toxic work environment. The CEO is very hard headed and senior leadership does not know how to lead with respect. Any mistake results in everyone getting yelled at including people who did nothing wrong. I do not agree with the way senior leadership runs things and I think that comes from having to walk on eggshells because of the CEO. A lot of teams will also play favorites making it very hard to move up even if you’re good at your job.
