Pros

This company will train you with no prior experience training consist of going downtown for weeks, paying for parking to have an adult read a PowerPoint out loud They give you all your PTO up front

Cons

Pay is horrible the worst pay in the industry less than any other bank is offering. Due to the poor pay, poor management, and micromanagement turnover is extremely high so you will be constantly over worked for pennies. They hire outside for management position and do not promote with in. I was hired for a management position with no experience and was trained by someone under me who dollar bank would not promote because at the time she was only with the company for 8 months so they will hire outside before they promote within and force you to train someone for a position you could not have. 2 months later they promoted her but did not give her the same pay because they didn't officially give her the supervisor title due to me being in the position however, she has all of the same requirements and responsibilities as I do and actually does more because she has to show me how to do these things. No incentive to process loans or open accounts while every other bank pays you a bonus this company does not therefore from a customer standpoint you will never get the service you are expecting because we aren't paid to close accounts and loans we ask if you say no, we stop there. They micromanage and provide corrective actions for not closing loans or accounts, but employees don't care because you aren't incentivizing us to do so. The amount of work a loan takes it's just not worth processing so as customers that's why your loans take forever or don't go through. You are forced to drive around the entire city of Cleveland for meetings that can be held via zoom you also are required to drive downtown for weeks at a time and pay for parking in order to attend training which consist of 8 hrs a day of someone reading a PowerPoint out loud to you. So, while they do train you majority of your career you will be forced to figure it out yourself. You are reimbursed for parking and some milage, but the reimbursement takes weeks to come in and with the poor pay it's hard to afford the commute. Due to high turnover you will be stuck with a lot of floats, and they are extremely lazy and literally do nothing not even wanting to take customer when they visit your branch which again leads to a crazy work loud. In conclusion if you need experience to get a real banking job with a good company come to dollar bank, I absolutely will not leave another bank to come here nor would I recommend coming here if you have other options for banks to work for. You will not make just basic money to afford basic life necessities. As a personal banker you would be lucky to make 40k a yr I'm a supervisor and I only make 45k branch managers only make about 50k -55k

Pros

Plenty of opportunity at dollar for growing your knowledge and experience. Leadership does care about their people and there is a a fair bit of access to executive management. Benefits are pretty good with insurance, gym reimbursement, 401k match and other things.

Cons

Performance incentives are sorely lacking here. If you are a high performer, you get the same performance incentive distributed into your 401k as someone who is average. Management also has a track record of adding responsibilities but not necessarily increasing compensation. The other main item is that the majority of employees have started and stayed at dollar. Coming in externally with difference experiences can be challenging.
