Pros

- Weekly Paychecks - Great people at store level - Company is growing, which means growth opportunities - Implementing new technology and process to help out store managers - Company is working on either remodeling or relocating all stores - Company has a new push to promote from within

Cons

- Managers only get one day off, they word play it by saying it's a five and a half day work week, so basically it's a six day work week, one day off. - Pay is not bad considering other small box retailers pay less then Dollar General Does, but could be better for a company that profits billions each year. - Major loss prevention issues company wide - Stores run on a skeleton crew, very minimum coverage allowed most days - Extremely high turn-over rate, rather it's a sales associate or a store manager - Medical/Dental insurance is not the best, but at least they do offer something - Workload at times is more then payroll allows for, meaning managers can work upwards of 70 hours per week just to get tasks completed on time. - Company is always changing process or procedures. At times it can be extremely difficult to keep up with what's current. - Company is coming out with a computer program that determines store managers pay, this takes it out of the hands of the district or regional manager, and puts it in the hands of people the candidate or current store manager will never meet and leaving it up to a computer system to determine salary. - No pay increase when you go from a Store Manager to a Store Training Manager

Pros

I work with a great group of people. Always something to keep busy so the days fly by. Great community

Cons

They always have to many employees hired so not enough hrs to give to the employees already there 🙄

Pros

The job itself is easy. The cash register, stocking (especially the totes and dry truck) and cleaning are so simple however there are certain things that make it difficult, although the work itself is not (under the right circumstances.)

Cons

They never have enough people on shift so it’s always difficult to get things done. It seems like all the managers I know from the store I worked at and the surrounding ones are all so deep into drama it made me wonder if I was back in high school. Dry truck always seems to bring far too much and the stores are so little that overstock is a huge issue here. The reason I ultimately left was due to severe mistreatment and some safety concerns I had regarding some past experiences. I am very glad I left and I would not ever go back.
