Good Experience But Only Because of My Store - Visual Merchandising Manager Forever 21 Employee Review

Pros

As a visual manager I had a pretty regular schedule M-F unless it was floorset week or it was my one weekend a month to cover the sales floor. I had a lot of creative freedom and control which is good if you are intelligent and like problem-solving but bad if you enjoy resources and being trained on how to do things. I had a good experience working here but only because the people at my local store were great to work with. The actual company is terrible.

Cons

Technology is ancient. Registers went down all the time. We had 2 Samsung touch screen palm pilot-esque things for a 30,000 square foot store to scan for markdowns and launches. They were so old that when markdowns dropped we would not see the plan until a week later even though compliance was due 3 days after the plan dropped. I heard through the grapevine (but it was also pretty evident from the way things were run) that there is incredibly high turnover at corporate and some parts of corporate have 1-5 people staffed for the ENTIRE company. Some of the other issues I had were greatly improved by the time I left after being there for 2.5 years.

Pay was decent, managers were nice, & was scheduled to work every day

One of the cons was that if you had closing shift during peak season, you weren't allowed to go home until everything was organized (around 1 am)
