Pros
-The most powerful education K-12 brand on social media. Tremendous reach.
-Impact of the content created is seen EVERY day with educators, students, and parents.
-Passionate people. Tons of selfless and talented folks making a difference in education.
-Top notch facilities and TONS of perks.
-Overall has sufficient resources to accomplish additional initiatives. I worked with top-notch consultants and learned a ton from them.
-Inspiring board members and executive leadership
-They recognize, cultivate talent, and challenge you to grow.
-Recognizable brand name (Both George Lucas Edu Fdn + Edutopia)
-Great place to be exposed to Web development, video crews, social media, and editorial folks. Great cross-functional team experience (exposed to many different thinkers)
-Flexible work-from-home day on Thursdays
-Extra professional development for those that take advantage of it (conferences, coaches, courses etc.)
-GREAT benefits (best I've had hands down)
Cons
-Location is very isolated (impossible to run errands and/or have a quick meeting with someone)
-Has a history of not strategically saying no to many initiatives but I know there's a strategic plan in place to resolve this.
-The Web/Media landscape is changing fast and Edutopia is changing with them. They could benefit on being more transparent at times to alleviate any unease with all of these changes.
