Pros
Good start in recruitment if you are fresh and need paint by numbers training to get started
Cons
Where to start... Not sure what's worse, the micro management day in day out or the complete disregard for people being humans. You are expected to be completely devoted to your desk, in return for not a lot of money. Base salaries start from 16k for associates, 22kish for recruitment consultants, and if you work 60 hours a week and bill 20k a month (pretty difficult unless you've been there a while) you'll be treated to about 5% of that before tax. Oh and if you dare to have a dentist or doctors appointment, they will make you use half a day of annual leave to go to it. Directors swan around letting you know that you're beneath them by demanding drinks and ignoring you if you're lucky, shouting at you for more BD calls most of the time. I wish I had known this before working for Hays as I had another offer on the table but was swayed by the size of Hays and their reputation. However, they literally make their employees put good reviews on glassdoor as a team exercise and watch what you write over your shoulder. Therefore doing my bit to balance the lies - there are so many jobs out there, don't settle for this.
