Flexible Scheduling: The company offers flexible work schedules, which is ideal for students or those with other commitments. Shifts can often be swapped with ease, providing work-life balance. Employee Benefits: IKEA provides a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and employee discounts on products, which can significantly enhance job satisfaction. Opportunities for Growth: There are ample opportunities for career advancement within the company. IKEA encourages internal promotions and provides training programs to help employees develop their skills. Inclusive Culture: IKEA is known for its commitment to diversity and inclusion. The workplace is welcoming to people from all backgrounds, fostering a sense of belonging. Sustainable Practices: Working for a company that prioritizes sustainability and environmental responsibility can be fulfilling for those who value these principles.

Cons

Fast-Paced Environment: The food service area can get very busy, especially during peak hours or sales events. This can be stressful and physically demanding at times. Workload Fluctuations: The workload can be inconsistent, with some days being extremely busy and others relatively slow. This can make it challenging to maintain a steady work rhythm. Physical Demands: The job can be physically taxing, involving long hours of standing, lifting heavy items, and constant movement, which may not be suitable for everyone. Customer Interactions: Dealing with customers, especially during busy times, can be challenging. Patience and strong communication skills are essential, and not all customers are easy to handle. Limited Breaks: During peak times, it can be difficult to take breaks, which can lead to fatigue. Management sometimes struggles to provide adequate break times due to the fast-paced nature of the job. Uniform Requirements: The mandatory uniform can be uncomfortable for some employees, and strict adherence to the dress code is enforced.

Pros

I have a very empathetic and flexible manager. Although I do meet the requirement to be in office three days a week many others do not and don’t seem to suffer for it. My work can be challenging at times, but due to the slow pace of most things here I rarely feel overwhelmed.

Cons

This is, without equivocation, the most sclerotic organization I have ever been a part of. The management structure and reporting lines are inscrutable and even after 3 years I barely understand how my team fits into the larger picture. My job is a data role, and although getting access to data has improved somewhat, it is still one of my biggest blockers.
