Pros
- Work from home ability is surprisingly great, one of the best I've ever seen at a company. It almost feels too good to be true. If you are sick (even if you have a cold), you will be told to just work from home until you are feeling better. - Some of the people you work with are really great people who are incredible at their jobs and will go out of their way to help you. - Unlimited PTO. I know in general the whole policy is to make employees take off less time and not have to cash out days left, but IQVIA genuinely let employees take a pretty generous amount of time off and is pretty flexible with life events or stuff in general that comes up. - Work/Life balance is good. I can't speak for others, but my day ended when I left the office. Some people need to bring their work home with them or on weekends, just depends where you are.
Cons
- Way too much office politics. So much that it makes your blood boil just by being in the office and you need to work from home just to let yourself have enough sanity to come in the next day and not scream at someone. - Very, very hard to advance at the company. You are given few opportunities to advance, and sometimes it's only if your manager likes you. - Your experience at the company can greatly vary by who your manager is, which is so horrible. Personally, I know people who have had great experiences with managers and love their job because of it. However, with some managers, you can put in so much effort and hard work into your job, but your manager might treat you horribly if they do not like you. And it's incredibly hard to change managers/teams and will basically only happen if its a business need. - Favoritism/Nepotism is so rampant you almost laugh at it. You find out as you keep working here that some person you've been working with all along is the son/daughter/etc. of some high-level director. It's okay until it happens enough where you wonder if everyone is hired just because they know someone. And those people generally get treated better than anyone else, unless you really suck up to your manager and give away your soul. - Health insurance. Before the merger, it was pretty decent (low deductible, good coverage all around, low copays). After the merger with Quintiles, absolutely horrible in almost every way. It almost makes you want to take a pay cut so you are eligible for the ACA. - Raises and bonus are almost non-existent, but again, this can vary depending on your relationship with your manager (and even people who had great relationships got very low raises). You are already being paid below market standard, but this is really just the worst part of it. - A lot of people who work here have been here for quite some time and are jaded about everything. They come in, bring all of their problems and attitudes, and take it out on everyone. This was not just my personal experience, this is a pretty rampant experience. HR does not give much care towards how people behave, and if they did, this comment wouldn't be necessary. - CEO is the highest paid in the pharmaceutical industry and IQVIA is a fraction of the size of a company like J&J in almost every way. When all of your employees are underpaid, it's bad for morale.
