Retail is bad. Kohls is worse. - Sales Floor Associate Kohl's Employee Review

Pros

The people who work alongside you, ie not your "superiors" are usually pretty fun people. The discount is nice, as well as the random Associate Shop weekends.

Cons

Kohls says they offer competitive pay. What a joke. You could go to any given retail store and get a job that pays more and treats you, as an employee, much better. Even when you get a raise, it's no more than a few cents - and that's when your review goes well. Kohls is almost always understaffed and many times the closers end up staying far later than an hour past closing - sometimes it's two in the morning before they get out. This on its own is nearly unbearable, but the management is terribly unappreciative as well. Why would you want to go to work and bust your butt all day when you never feel appreciated and never receive praise for the things you do well?

Cons

Little to no training been working here for almost a year now there’s still something I don’t know every day. What was most difficult for me was being at registers as I was trained in two days by shadowing someone. There are so many situations and problems that will come up every day and you will learn something new! They never taught me about Kohl’s cash, how to read receipts, reprint or edit receipts. They schedule so little so when you do learn something there’s no chance of rehearsal because you come in three weeks later working at a different department.
