Pros

I work with amazing group of people as co-workers. They are the reason I continue to work at Liberty Mutual

Cons

Management is poor. They are completely unaware of what is going on. We have been living a revolving door of turnover for more than a year with no signs of it stopping. People leave because they aren't heard. Management is retaliatory. This year's employee opinion survey was horrendous. Instead of admitting there are issues they placed the blame on employees that are working through claim pendings that are not manageable. It's hard to be effective with an inventory of 195 with suits in excess of 100. The litigation handling is done almost solely by the rep. You will send your own subpoenas out. You will determined in supplemental interrogatives are needed. You will decide on preliminary objections and status of claims because house counsel is prohibited from expressing an opinion and they only do tasks. Enter an appearance. Attend depositions. Which if you as a rep attend will be responsible for do the deposition summary. The house representative will change from deposition to arbitration. You will alone decide on whether a Film/IME/Med review is needed and when house counsel fails you as the rep will be held accountable. RUN. Runs fast, Run hard but Run..

Pros

Good benefits. Generous 401k match

Cons

Started my career at Liberty Mutual as a Workers' Compensation intern. In the beginning, everything was going well. The workload was demanding, but I genuinely enjoyed the job and the work I was doing. One year later, I got promoted to claim adjuster. Things changed after my manager was seriously injured in a car accident. The department director took over managing our team, and the work environment became completely different. She was extremely rude and practiced excessive micromanagement. She expected me not to take any PTO if my work wasn't completely finished, even when I needed time off because my grandmother had suddenly passed away. The constant pressure and lack of empathy took a serious toll on my mental health. I developed depression during that time and eventually had to seek help from a psychologist. In the end, I decided to leave Liberty Mutual. It was one of the best decisions I made for my well-being, and I would not consider returning to the company.
