Pros
Pay and benefits were VERY good, some groups will allow working remotely (a godsend to be out of the office, which is a very negative environment), good opportunity for learning (but offset by favoritism by management) nice office equipment (high quality adjustable desks, nice workstations).
Cons
Isolating, no sense of comradely, poor management, lots of layoffs due to the opening of the Plano ginormous office, limited career opportunities unless you are in the Dover NH office. Having worked for Liberty Mutual for years, I found the place to be one of constantly having to meet the never achievable standards to hang onto my position. I felt beat down and that my performance was never good enough. I stayed there for years because the company breeds Stockholm syndrome and that you will never be able to get a “better” job elsewhere with your skillet. The Seattle location has moved much of its operations to Plano and it’s rumored that soon, the company will work out of that location. Often I’d speak to claims employees who were just swamped with work. One adjuster said that it’s not uncommon for them to take vacation time only to work to maintain the workload.
