Pros

I've been really happy with my pace of career growth at New Relic, receiving 3 promotions in 5 years! My managers and mentors on the leadership team have been super supportive and kind. Thinking back, even the hiring process was quick and easy. Probably the most pleasant and least stressful hiring experience I've ever had. I had a Zoom interview with the person who would be my manager. That went really well thanks to my many years of experience in the tech industry. A few days later I was invited into the office for what turned out to be a friendly conversation with two nice folks who would turn out to be my colleagues. We went out to lunch and I was hired that week. I shadowed a colleague for a few weeks and had the opportunity to learn from the person who was our first and only Principal Technical Support Engineer. It's been a whirlwind of growth ever since. I started as a Technical Support Engineer in 2020. I recall one of my colleagues mentioning they didn't think I would be able to contribute much to the team. I think they soon realized I was just taking my time to absorb it all, because it wasn't long after I was promoted to Senior Technical Support Engineer, solving complex issues for really big customers on a regular basis. In 2023 I was promoted again to Lead Technical Support Engineer, which is when I started taking on projects and team challenges, along with more complex cases. In 2025 I made it to Principal Technical Support Engineer, being the first person to attain the role since our original PTSE transitioned to a different career path back in 2020. He still works at New Relic and I recently got the chance to see him in person, saying "I've got your old role, the role you had when I first joined New Relic!" It was a nostalgic moment for us both.

Cons

Not being a public company any longer, I miss the RSU awards that New Relic used to give out for strong performers and promotions.

Pros

New Relic truly walks the walk. I love that the company leans into a Challenger Mindset; it creates a dynamic where we are always improving and staying ahead of the curve. Even as a new hire, my perspective feels valued. Beyond the tech, the culture is unprecedented. Everyone is incredibly helpful and stays Accountable to one another. It’s rare to find a place that is this friendly while still maintaining a high bar for getting work done.

Cons

Still in the honeymoon phase, but navigating the vast amount of internal documentation can be a bit of a whirlwind during the first month; definitely feel like "drinking from a fire hose." While the team is supportive, the sheer volume of information can be overwhelming for a newcomer.

Pros

Good PTO policy Most coworkers are nice

Cons

Executive leadership needs an overhaul. CMO is toxic and has caused many long standing people to leave the company. She only hires people that will say yes to her. Most people in leadership are too afraid to push back in fear of getting fired like previous peers. Does not treat people well in general.
