It is an opportunity for anyone in the business to get a deep understanding of the mobile business, both devices and services. Nokia is undergoing changes which will prepare it for the future communications landscape, where the mobile device will be the primary access device for online communication and sharing of media etc. Strong Finnish culture and will (Sisu) which plays a role in the values of the Company. Nokia Way is a term used for those underlying principles and it guides management and the employee base to act with respect, fairness and fact based decision making
Cons
Because of the global nature of the business, most roles will require extensive travel and networking. Persons coming into Nokia need to understand that trade off and be prepared to make changes to accomodate the requirements. For non Finnish persons joining the company it is important to get to know the Finnish culture and ways of communication. Often times a Finnish response can be misinterpreted which can lead to confusion in decision making ie. a Finnish "good" means that you have done a "great job". This can also lead to frustration and when you couple this with the time/distance between US and Finland for example, it is important that people make a point to spend face time with their Finnish colleagues, usually making frequent trips to Finland.
