Pros

Great culture, commission is high (if you even get any), company is good, managers are genuine kind people, coworkers are friends, supportive, ethical.

Cons

Low base salary. Door to door sucks, and anyone who says otherwise is delusional, lying, or brainwashed by money. You work in any and ALL weather conditions, even if it is dangerously cold. And, you will get stuck doing door to door here for a long time. Misleading opportunity. All pitching is 100% scripted, with no freedom to pitch how you pitch best. It feels like a kid's job. NO regard/respect for you previous experience. You have to work every other Saturday and DON'T get paid for it. No work/life balance. Feels like a cult honestly. The job becomes your entire life. You have to get 5 estimates to even start earning commission. Lots of "favoritism". Mentally and psychologically degrading. Other than that, I've been marketing for various companies for a long time and have always loved it. It's what I do. This job, however, made me depressed (seriously) and DESPISE marketing. I'm still trying to get over these feelings because I have been very successful in marketing as I said, and this job honestly ruined my passion for it. I am so happy that I no longer have a job that I'm ashamed of. If peopled asked me what I did for a living, I would be embarrassed to say.

Pros

After 15 years with the company, the biggest positive has always been the employee-focused culture. They genuinely invest in creating a good work environment, from modern office spaces and great amenities to company events, conferences, and even trips that help build team culture. The flexibility in BT to work remotely part of the week has been a huge benefit for work-life balance, especially with a family. Compensation is competitive within the home remodeling industry, and the company offers solid benefits like 401K and private health insurance. There are also opportunities to grow and learn if you’re willing to put in the effort.

Cons

One challenge is that career growth and promotions don’t always align with seniority or long-term loyalty, which can sometimes feel discouraging after many years with the company. For employees in tech-focused roles, compensation can feel a bit below market compared to the broader tech industry, even though bonuses can help offset that in strong years. Raises without a promotion are usually modest, and while the health insurance is decent overall, coverage for some major medical needs could definitely be improved.
