Pros

Okay hours, depending on your team.

Cons

Where to begin.....Protiviti is truly an IT audit shop, lots of old timers from Arthur Andersen. They are not even remotely cutting edge or on the verge of anything in the “digital” space. Management is primarily white men, you won’t see very many minorities whatsoever. They preach that “we’re a great place to work”, but do absolutely nothing to back that up. A ton of politics, if you don’t suck up to the right people you will immediately be ousted. Also their “entrepreneurial spirit” (you’ll hear this a lot) is due to a lack of talent, they over sell themselves on projects and have to come up with something on the spot to deliver. Training and development is limited to Audit, Sox compliance etc. not much else available as far as trainings or classes to take. Retention is terrible, no real culture due to the huge turn over, with the exception of the Managing directors who will stay as they could never hop back over to any of the larger firms.

Protiviti Response

Hi! Thank you for your feedback! Wow, I am sad to hear that you do not seem to be experiencing Protiviti in the way that many of our people do. The good news is that you have indicated that you are a current employee, so we can work together to fix this! For starters, I would recommend that you meet with your advisor to discuss your many concerns as part of your career checkpoint, which should be taking place in this timeframe. If you are unhappy with your current advisor, you can also work with your HR contact to change that individual to someone with whom you might better connect. Additionally, it sounds like you have some questions about the business vision for your solution or area of focus. I encourage you to learn more about areas of focus for our technology practices through conversations with your leaders. Regarding your concerns on diversity, I happen to lead that initiative for our HR team, so I can confirm that we have many ongoing initiatives that will help us to better recruit and retain diverse technology talent at all levels of the organization. As a matter of fact, just last week we attended the Women in Cybersecurity conference as a way to connect with more candidates and companies on this topic. Given that you yourself are in the world of technology, you can imagine that this is a challenge and a focus for many employers, but we are committed to making the effort and working with our people, like YOU, to achieve greater success. We need all hands on deck when it comes to creating an inclusive working environment. I wonder if you are involved, for example, in our women's initiative (iGROWW)? That might be a good starting place for you to get engaged and be a leader in this area for your part of the business. Thank you again for your feedback and I truly hope that we can help you to realize your potential as part of our team.

Pros

Good WLB Great Bosses Health insurance & benefits are awesome Very flexible workforce Easy to climb up in promotions

Cons

Pay is below standard (Although I feel you still get paid decently for the area) If you're put on a production project, be ready to feel stuck. Management is very lost on where they want to head into the future. I am worried this company won't last much longer (Former arthur anderson) Can feel clique-y at times amongst peers (but this is not a problem of the company specifically)

Pros

1) Chicago office has a good culture, overall. It’s not perfect but most of the people are great. 2) Work-life balance score has been solid (about 5+ years of insights here) 3) Although it was not great this year, Incentive compensation has overall been pretty good over the course of 5+ years. Much better than big 4 in my experience.

Cons

1) Since 2023, the culture hasn’t been great for a variety of reasons (mainly due to sluggish performance and growing too fast) 2) It feels more like a temporary staffing agency versus a consulting firm for a lot of the time. 3) There has been an awkward push for a return to the office and more business development focus that is in stark contrast to what most Protiviti people value. 4) Most people I talk to say they are not motivated by most of the MDs they interact with (this is significant in my opinion).
