Pros
Protiviti has a talented workforce and a better culture than other consultancies I have worked with in my career. Additionally, work life balance is much better at Protiviti than the Big 4 or other major consulting firms.
Cons
Coming out of the rush of SOX work Protiviti is struggling to find its identity. The move towards doing more consulting and less audit and SOX work does not appear to be clearly envisioned and seems to lack strategy. I have a hard time discerning whether management views consulting as simply assessment work done outside of the internal audit channel or truely helping clients solve problems (rather than just finding them) . I'm concerned this seeming lack of vision for the solutions business will result in lost credibility in the market place, missed earnings targets, and limit profitability.
