Pros
When Randstad acquired Spherion a few years back, some very experienced workers were brought into the organization. Unfortunately, most of them have either been fired or quit to leave only new-hires who are barely out of training. Company's only focus is on sales, to the exclusion of all else, so if you are in sales you may have a chance to succeed (if you like the company and its culture). Might be a decent first sales job, if you can handle it. European side of the company may be helping Randstad US keep its decent reputation while it suffers from many internal problems at the present time. Work for the European side if you have the choice. Company was great years ago, but after many acquisitions has greatly suffered.
Cons
Massive turnover nationwide like Titanic passengers fleeing for the last lifeboat (upper management has yet to admit there is a problem). Houston, there is a problem! Extremely aggressive and unrealistic sales goals make for oppressive work environment, especially with high level of daily micro-management and other artificial controls. Company values are very ambiguous, rarely spoken about, and never translated into reality. "To Know, To Serve, To Trust?" - sounds more like NYPD in my neck of the woods. Very little actual "leadership" coming out of senior management across the board. More like a race to the top with departments competing in a cut-throat manner with each other, insular power bases being formed, and managers seeking to burn anyone who gets in their way Toxic management culture of finger-pointing and blame, very little positive feedback. Actually, very little communication from management at all, it's like they are on Fantasy Island. Poor ethical behavior within all levels of the organization, but focused at top. Job descriptions are inaccurately described as is bonus structure.
