Salaries have actually DECREASED over the past 7 years. I started as a mid market AE in 2019 and my base salary back then was in the middle of the salary band for the exact same role today. However, back then, we earned an additional 30-50k per year from RSUs, which are no longer offered. Additionally, the % of people hitting quota is less than half of what it used to be.
Senior management completely burned bridges with customers with the new pricing model last year. On top of that, due to extreme turnover, layoffs, and putting out fires related to the new pricing model, product innovation has severely lagged, and competitors have strongly pulled ahead in the market.
There is no turnaround at this point. Major customers have left, they aren’t landing enough new logos to replace them, and pretty much all of the key talent has left. Employee engagement is in the gutter (see CEO approval ratings) due to constant layoffs and offshoring of jobs. Nobody is bringing their best ideas to make the company great again. All that’s left are newbies and people who are coasting while looking for other jobs.
Advice to existing employees: update your resumes and start interviewing ASAP. Competitors are aggressively hiring and I was able to increase my pay by over 25% when I left.
