Great work/life balance, poor management and morale - Attorney Advisor Social Security Administration Employee Review

Pros

Great work/life balance, good salary and benefits, you will read and write all day long with little to no interaction with others (could be a good thing if that's the environment you work best in).

Cons

Poor management and morale. No one will tell you "good job" or give you any kind of feedback on your work until your yearly/bi-yearly review, which goes in your record. Very hard to move up in the organization or transfer to other departments. Other federal agencies do not really respect the work you do there and it's really not transferrable to other work. All attorneys, analysts, support are in cubicles. There was quite a bit of tension between employees and really unhappy people there when I was. A lot of the older employees would tell newbies to get out as soon as possible and were biding their time for retirement.

Pros

Being trained on all the different case types processed by the position. The organization offers flex time.

Cons

It is a difficult job to learn all aspects of case processing promptly.
