Good place for engineers starting out, but not for long term career - Engineer Textron Systems Employee Review

Pros

1. If you can secure an internship, it's easy to get a position. 2. Every day there is a possibly of a new task on a new project doing something completely different with a different priority. Very few do the same thing every day. 3. Communication skills are valued above technical capability. If you can speak well and write well, you can achieve fast track promotions regardless of your technical abilities.

Cons

1. There is a general lack of technical expertise among management, and therefor there is little vision for the future of product lines for engineers to aim for. Objectives usually do not go beyond the next 90 days. 2. Engineers are often forced to take on responsibilities above their pay grade. While salary may or may not be competitive for the title, the tasks are often well above what the title should be responsible for. While this may be common at any place before someone earns a promotion, the promotion never comes. 3. There are no dedicated teams. Most people have to juggle multiple conflicting tasks from different bosses, none of whom are your supervisor, and the timelines are being determined by people that don't have the expertise to understand what needs done.
