Throughout my time at Transamerica there were numerous layoffs and several reorganization attempts that took a very long time to implement. The result was a disaster... at least from a corporate culture perspective, although I'm sure it helped the profit margins. In addition, everyone feared they were next, which contributed to the negative feel within the organization.
In addition to the layoffs, Transamerica demoted everyone's title across the board, so VP's became Directors, Directors became Senior Managers, etc. This is not a company that has anything in mind other than their bottom line, the culture is standoffish and unfriendly and the leadership is poor at best.
