Pros
- Colleagues were great, store managers lovely, workplace culture nice too - Enjoyable enough work, good variation in tasks, (most) customers are friendly
Cons
- Pay system/HR was reworked when I started, my coworkers and I were severely underpaid, some of my coworkers had children to feed! - Entirely online HR and benefits system etc which takes months to troubleshoot any problems and barely works - My manager was brought in to bring the store up to scratch for a refit. Goals were reached, no refit. Upper management wouldn't even pay to install LIGHTING in the plumbing section, so if you're looking to purchase plumbing supplies in Kingston I hope you have night vision goggles - Poor pay for the amount of work you do, especially considering how many nitties we stopped from stealing which is not in the job description - Travis Perkins nearly sold the company which would have made everyone redundant, and we found out from a news article rather than any company communication - Any budding archaeologists want to hazard a guess at what century the till systems are from? I'm thinking around 200 BC - Worked in a big metal warehouse without proper heating meaning you need arctic survival gear in the winter and would be better off working nude in the summer - Some customers were incredibly aggressive "bad people" - Order/stock system was rubbish which pissed off plenty of customers bc it always lied about stock - Employees not held to the same standard ie amount of work, keeping things clean and tidy. Some people doing twice the work of others who are fully capable of doing more. - Some colleagues (managers esp) taking the "urine" with smoke breaks every hour while everyone else gets on with it
