Pros

I met so many great, talented individuals while I was at the company. The majority of the coworkers I interacted with daily were easy to get along with. The team was provided with the necessary tools and technology to product some great work.

Cons

1. Compensation. Overall salaries were laughably low - not just for me but for other co-workers of similar tenure. I worked a second job the majority of my time at Epicosity to make up for the lack of competitive pay. Yearly raises were accompanied with a growing list of responsibilities that continued to highlight the lack of a fair wage. Overall, raises were small, barely accounting for inflation. This didn’t stop the owners from buying large houses, new cars and taking trips. If you think this company is competitive in pay, mention the salary to someone at any other agency and their face will say it all. 2. Culture. The culture at the company is not as they try to make it appear. Any positive culture created organically came from the production team and not the owners. Most fun activities came with a lot of red tape from management, which made events feel forced and fake. Most of the time, the owners had very minimal participation with the Culture activities. 3. Structure. Titles mean nothing to this company. There’s no prestige that is carried with being a Senior team member. They love to leverage a new title in an attempt to keep employees from leaving. The new employee onboarding process is seriously lacking the resources needed to ensure a new hire can live up to the expectations put on them from management starting day. The agency’s approach is to just throw you in and you either sink or swim. There’s no true ramp-up process or training materials. The knowledgebase available to team members is always outdated and missing key information. Management overall is lacking. 4. Opportunity. We were challenged to create our path at the agency and to create or seize opportunities to grow within the company. Multiple opportunities I expressed interest in fell on deaf ears. The contract they force every employee to sign is pretty outrageous for a company of 30 people. The non-compete will handcuff you to this company longer than you want to be there.

Pros

- Great people to work with - Fun work environment - Excellent location

Cons

- Pay isn't even reasonable - Lack of management - Clear favoritism towards some and not others - Culture is just something to share on social media and website, it is not existent in day to day life. - The contract you sign is completely rediculous and prevents you from getting a similar job in the area. BEWARE - Laughable raises and compensation - Turnover is rampant

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience about working at Epicosity. We are always striving to be the best, so we’ll use your feedback to help us improve. We wanted to offer responses to a few of your comments: Pay: We base our compensation on a review of similar pay for similar jobs within our market along with a person’s experience level. We have also implemented a profit sharing program so everyone can benefit when we’re successful. Culture: We admit, our culture isn’t the same as when we only had a dozen people as Epicosity focuses more on doing industry leading work. Having 35+ team members will do that. As a response to comments like yours, we’re improving our Culture Club and talent development department to really focus on creating the type of environment where people can succeed both in their career and as a person. Non-Compete Agreement: Advertising agencies get the privilege of learning about proprietary products, processes and advantages before the public, to which they expect their trust to be protected. Epicosity has proprietary information and customer relationships that employees engage with intimately as well. Employees have a chance to review the document before deciding to sign it. Turnover: At Epicosity, 30% of our team has been with us for more than 5 years, and 60% have been with us for more than 2 years. According to Adweek, the average turnover rate in advertising is 30%, which is second to only to tourism. In 2019, our turnover was well below the industry average at 18%.

Pros

I met and got the opportunity to work with so many talented, intelligent, and creative people while I worked there. I genuinely enjoyed the company of nearly all of my coworkers, which made leaving surprisingly difficult.

Cons

The culture that the company promotes to you in the interview process isn’t in any way genuine. My job could’ve been 100% remote, but working from home was heavily discouraged, and they looked for any reason not to pay you for that day if you did need to work remotely. They offer practically nothing for vacation time to new employees. The “Culture Club” that they love to promote is heavily crippled by the fact that management will do next to nothing to support the group. When I worked there, “Operation E” was virtually nonexistent, yet held a prominent spot on the company’s website. Nearly every one of my coworkers needed a second job because their salary was not enough to cover their expenses, but the owners seem to pay themselves handsomely. The list goes on. They decided at some point that it was important to “focus on culture,” but they don’t actually care about the culture, they just want to use it as a selling tool to promote themselves to clients and new employees.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. We’re glad you found the team to be such a positive part of our company. We agree – we’re lucky in that regard. We did want to respond to a few of your other comments as we continue to work to improve: Vacation Time: We offer a competitive time-off policy where 2 weeks of combined vacation and sick leave are given the first year of employment. After one year, we offer 3 weeks of paid time off per year. And after five weeks, we offer 4 weeks. Support of Culture Club: We acknowledge it’s been more challenging to maintain our culture as we’ve grown to 35+ team members. Recently, our focus has been on improving the quality of our work, but comments like yours have us re-evaluating our Culture Club and talent development policies to make sure they have the autonomy and the support they need to shape our culture. Management does not dictate most decisions made by Culture Club intentionally as we believe it’s important for our culture to be shaped by the team from within. Remote Work: The COVID pandemic has really opened our eyes to the possibility of remote team members. Prior to COVID, we had two remote staff. Since COVID, we’ve mostly been working remotely and are set up very well to do so on a continued basis. We have never restricted pay for those wanting the flexibility to work from home. Operation E: We like to give back to the community through Operation E. With your comment, we looked back at the last few years, and here’s what we found. In 2018 we donated $76,599 in production as well as $10,670 more in monetary contributions to help charitable causes. In 2019 we donated $113,668 in production costs and more than $23,870 in monetary contributions.
