There are a lot of communication challenges between HQ and the field. There is a lack of clear direction and expectations for field staff. Each staff member seems to have a different vision of the work being done. Work also is dependent on volunteers in large part, while claiming to integrate volunteers into sustainable programs. There is large pressure to put volunteers' needs ahead of other projects, both directly and indirectly.
The organization is dealing with a lot of growing pains that a startup would face, despite celebrating 15 years of operations. The lack of proper systems in place leads to larger work loads for field staff and greater tension between staff members.
