Pros

• Designers focus on one project at a time • Projects are almost always sold with significant research included • Leadership are open-minded, receptive, and generous • Fringe benefits are excellent • Small team size = close involvement in the work • No account managers or project managers • Talented, positive, non-political staff

Cons

• Very few, and none significant enough to mention. Some relatively trivial growing pains

Pros

I started here as a contractor and was quickly impressed by how well Grand Studio treats their contractors and employees. You can tell working here that they go out of their way to make their team members feel supported and welcomed. I was always paid well and paid on time, and was compensated for expenses in a professional manner. It was not unlikely that I would receive kind gifts from HR on any given week, and I have always felt like I could ask a question if I needed an answer. Long story short as a contractor I feel like I was included on the company culture and treated more than fairly. The work at Grand Studio is exciting, challenging, and full of unique opportunities to grow and learn. The team is diverse and is open to different perspectives. I have worked with agencies where I felt I could not speak, where everyone is basically the same person, or where egos prevented progress- this is not the case with Grand Studio. Even during Covid-19 the company has done a great job at communicating with it's team members and making everyone feel supported. What's more, Grand Studio is very transparent and pragmatic with its team members about how to grow in the company and as a professional. This is one of the things I cherish most about working here, on top of great benefits. Overall I am very happy with my time at Grand Studio.

Cons

I don't really have any glaring cons to share. The only thing I would mention is that the projects GS takes on are challenging and ambiguity is often a given. Designers are often expected to research, strategize, and design in sometimes impromptu ways. The challenging nature of projects can often lead to late nights. Close relationships and workings with clients can also lead to late night requests and scope creep, which can sometimes impact work/life balance. None of this is really unusual in agency.
