I have been working at HAVI full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great learning experience. They treat you like an equal, and not just that you're an entry level employee.

    Cons

Many teams operate very differently, and your experience largely depends on your team.

I have been working at HAVI full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great pay, decent benefits, talk of recognizing culture problems

    Cons

Inability to communicate above your manager, managers will attend culture training and then not even 5 minutes into the next meeting will belittle their most senior. The company overall needs to diversify, your 1 big client is obviously looking to diversify. Takes forever to do anything that requires a decision, mgmt avoids decisions and confrontation at all costs.

    Advice to Management

Diversify, really look at your culture don't just have a few meetings and bring in a "culture coach" to check a box. Do what you say. Live and breath that mantra to be followed, they say you are the models of culture in an org. Also, just because someone has been with the org 10-30 years, doesn't mean they are always doing the right thing.

I worked at HAVI full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits! 4 months of summer hours, daily lunch credit, health insurance more affordable than many employers. Smart, nice people to work with.

    Cons

Short sighted objectives for growth. Not committed to new business development. Lack of executive leadership so senior managers do what they think without support creating disjointed efforts which is confusing internally and externally.

I have been working at HAVI full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

More roses than thorns in this bunch. They hire great people; once you have someone’s attention (and everyone is very busy) they are generally friendly, responsive, open and genuinely want to help people out. The customer relationship is long-standing, so working on the primary account, you get to take some risks, try things differently. They are actively pursuing new customers, so there is lots of growth... opportunity for those who have the technical expertise, a little customer-facing savvy, and aren’t afraid to be an army of one.

    Cons

Unfortunately, development of a career path has been an afterthought. HR is perceived to have sketchy practices, tell half-truths and funny ideas.

    Advice to Management

Start educating the US-centric head office how life is elsewhere. As you continue to integrate globally, you need to do away with the business unit silos, infighting, and people getting upset over cultural attitudes/ approaches.

I worked at HAVI full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Relaxed environment full of smart, well-paid, easy-to-befriend people who enjoy a beautiful office, good work-life balance, fantastic benefits, and plenty to do. Yes HAVI is “offshoring to Poland for cheap labor,” but there’s more to the story: they’re delayering, joining SME & Account Management roles, and refocusing on global growth. Will it work? Who knows but at least they’re trying something. It’s hard... for anyone to look in the mirror and say “I’m not being accountable,” so it may take a little time to see real progress from leadership, but I bet they’ll get there eventually.

    Cons

Instead of developing genuine (honest) client relationships with long-run services, some department’s “growth strategy” focused on short-run gimmicks for quick revenue with misleading & easy targets. As a service began to fail, someone would heroically arrive with a new (equally ineffective) offering to save the day, then they’d get awarded or promoted and transferred elsewhere. Rinse and repeat. Over time... useful solutions were replaced by layering, finger-pointing, disengagement, and favoritism. There are no “bad-guys,” it’s not a big conspiracy, it’s just the age-old story of an unaccountable culture fostered by a lack of vision. Leadership seems aware and are trying to address the issues but until they figure it out you’ll either get thrown under the bus a lot or be one of the throwers.

    Advice to Management

Middle: You get a bonus that individual contributors do not, start earning it – put your neck on the line by taking a position. Try the phrase “I think we should do [insert anything at all].” People can’t help you achieve your goals if you don’t tell them what they are. Upper: You need a Vision. Everyone in the company should be able to explain, in their own words, how their leaders plan on growing the company. ... It’s ok to be a company that doesn’t grow fast but if you want aggressive growth, you need aggressive strategy, which means taking risks. Sure offshoring is risky and helps the budget, but it’s not growth. AFTER you have a Vision, put together a list of things HAVI doesn’t do but could do, pick one based on your risk tolerance, invest in it, commit to it, watch it fail, and then pivot to something else – keep doing this until something doesn’t fail. If you don’t have a Vision, managers will continue to compete with each other to achieve short-run revenue which means you’ll just keep selling snake oil, and that never works in the long run.

    Pros

Great Benefits. Wonderful building and offices.

    Cons

Does not truly have a truly open door policy. There is really no room for failures hence it hinders creativity or lowers the chances someone submits or presents new ideas.

    Advice to Management

Help to improve innovation in the team by fostering a creative environment.

I worked at HAVI full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

HAVI has some great coworkers. Pantries are well stocked. Good pay. Summer Hours.

    Cons

Management doesn't listen to employees. They did at one point but then only the squeaky wheels got greased and underlying problems still existed. Work life balance is a joke. Benefits were great but declined over the years.
