I worked at HAVI full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Relaxed environment full of smart, well-paid, easy-to-befriend people who enjoy a beautiful office, good work-life balance, fantastic benefits, and plenty to do. Yes HAVI is “offshoring to Poland for cheap labor,” but there’s more to the story: they’re delayering, joining SME & Account Management roles, and refocusing on global growth. Will it work? Who knows but at least they’re trying something. It’s hard for...

    Cons

Instead of developing genuine (honest) client relationships with long-run services, some department’s “growth strategy” focused on short-run gimmicks for quick revenue with misleading & easy targets. As a service began to fail, someone would heroically arrive with a new (equally ineffective) offering to save the day, then they’d get awarded or promoted and transferred elsewhere. Rinse and repeat. Over time useful...

    Advice to Management

Middle: You get a bonus that individual contributors do not, start earning it – put your neck on the line by taking a position. Try the phrase “I think we should do [insert anything at all].” People can’t help you achieve your goals if you don’t tell them what they are. Upper: You need a Vision. Everyone in the company should be able to explain, in their own words, how their leaders plan on growing the company. It’s...

    Pros

Great Benefits. Wonderful building and offices.

    Cons

Does not truly have a truly open door policy. There is really no room for failures hence it hinders creativity or lowers the chances someone submits or presents new ideas.

    Advice to Management

Help to improve innovation in the team by fostering a creative environment.

I have been working at HAVI full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pay, benefits, flexible work schedule and great office.

    Cons

A lot of expectations from the younger employees. Management is afraid to tell them no.

I worked at HAVI full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

HAVI has some great coworkers. Pantries are well stocked. Good pay. Summer Hours.

    Cons

Management doesn't listen to employees. They did at one point but then only the squeaky wheels got greased and underlying problems still existed. Work life balance is a joke. Benefits were great but declined over the years.

I worked at HAVI full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Non-management employees are great people

    Cons

No such thing as work-life balance. They say they promote job flexibility, but every department has their own opinions on what that means. No consistency across the company.

I worked at HAVI full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A lot of good people at HAVI, unfortunately none of them are part of the leadership team. Many of those good people have grown tired of the poor management. Reasonable salary and benefits round out the pro's.

    Cons

The ownership team lacks any strategic direction compounded by the lack of being able to stick with a direction. They basically have all their eggs in one basket (McDonalds), and have no insight or sales leadership to grow the business outside of McDoanlds. The ownership group has no outside board or advisers to council them which exacerbates the problems. Fresh ideas are stifled by the status quo management team afraid...

    Advice to Management

    1) Bring in someone who knows how to develop a viable, long-term strategy for the organization, properly fund it, and stick to the plan, don't start over every year... Or six months... 2) Owners need to step back out of the daily business and allow an actual qualified management team to run the business. 3) Leadership needs to expand and capture the ideas and voice across the organization, not just listen to what...

I have been working at HAVI full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Strong benefits, flexible work schedules, summer hours that allow you to work 9 hours Monday through Thursday and then work only 4 hours on Friday. Nice office space, although no open space to encourage collaboration.

    Cons

Management is constantly on the prowl for ways to save money by either outsourcing or by bringing in contractors. Management is striving to pull select women up into management, which is great if you're a woman. Because of outsourcing, numerous jobs are being lost from the Downers Grove office, but they are kept so quiet that it's hard to tell how many people have been affected.
