Pros

The work can be interesting. Sick days don't count against you like they do at some places. Solid benefit package. Managers take a somewhat hands off approach and it never feels like anyone is breathing down your neck.

Cons

Low pay, with raises capped at around 3%. Company depends on a handful of employees to carry the team and doesn't seem to do much to keep them around.

Thank you for posting a review. We’re glad to hear that you found the work interesting! The industries we serve are constantly changing, and that helps to keep our work challenging and fulfilling. Employee health is very important to us and employees are encouraged to use sick days when needed for both physical health as well as mental health. We’d rather have an employee stay home sick than come to the office and spread illness to their coworkers. In addition to sick time, employees receive vacation and personal days in addition to 10 paid holidays. Thanks again for your review!

Pros

The atmosphere and work environment are very fun and casual. They provide free drinks (coffee, tea, soda, energy drinks, etc.) and free popcorn as well as frequently providing snacks and/or lunches for special occasions. The people for the most part are friendly and helpful. Management has become much more receptive and helpful in recent years. If you are willing to put in your time doing the "grunt" work your responsibilities will eventually increase and become more interesting. The benefits are decent, and the health insurance is very good, with over half being covered by the company.

Cons

They starting pay is slowly increasing but is still below industry standard. However, it's decent for the area. The company has historically had a very flat structure with little room for advancement. Like the pay, this is slowly improving. The casual environment can have a negative side: it can be loud and sometimes gossipy.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We love our fridges stocked with free drinks! The free popcorn and snacks for special occasions are nice perks too. Another great thing about IPS is the casual and fun atmosphere. Our work is serious, but we do our best to enjoy our time at the office. Employee morale is very important to us. We recognize outstanding achievements with various employee recognition programs and hold morale events throughout the year (including office Olympics competitions, birthday celebrations, holiday parties and other company-sponsored events). Thanks again for your review!

Pros

There are some smart people here with knowledge and motivation. Unfortunately they are usually silenced by clueless management. Not all managers fall into that classification, but with an extremely flat structure it's likely you'll run into that problem. Take advantage of opportunities to learn and grow from your external clients - they are often the experts in the industry, and it will benefit you professionally to pick up what you can. This experience can then be utilized to secure a career elsewhere with growth opportunities. Working at IP Services does provide for a great work-life balance, as your work does not leave the office with you in most cases. Decent benefits for the area to help to supplement the low hourly wages. IP Services does make 401k contributions and profit sharing, but it takes many years to become fully vested.

Cons

The business is based around a single client, and would not fare well if this client took business elsewhere. Senior management does not always fully understand the work that their employees complete, and the industries that they are involved in. Failure of the company to keep up with the pace of the IT world is quickly making large segments of their work irrelevant as the industry passes them. Projects and work have steadily declined as major players have left IP Services over the last year or so. Dealing with incompetent management pushed those employees who tried to make a positive change away from the company. Compensation is far below the industry averages for the types of work performed. Favoritism seems to run rampant, and ideas for improvement are not well received. There is ZERO growth opportunity - after a few years, they may tack "senior" in front of your job title - but even according to management, these are superficial to keep people happy. The failure to modernize and grow does not lead to a positive outlook for IP Services.

Thank you for posting a review! Over the last few years, IPS has experienced significant growth due to expanding work and a growing client base. Our employee count has increased by nearly 20% since 2014 and we currently provide services to 15+ large, corporate clients. We’re taking steps to fuel this growth by investing in new sales and marketing initiatives. Historically, IPS had a flat management structure but in recent years our management team has grown from a small team of seven to a team of 18. Although it is common for IPS to “promote from within,” not all of our managers hold tenure. Employees are promoted to a management position based on their skills and experience as well as their vision and leadership. We understand the importance of a healthy work/life balance. It’s important not only for the health and happiness of our employees, but also for productivity, innovation and creativity. Employees do have the flexibility to work from home under certain circumstances and our benefits package includes vacation, sick and personal days, 10 paid holidays, a great 401(k) program and profit sharing. The majority of our work does not require “on call” hours, and we are able to leave work at work, so our free time is truly our own time. Thanks again for your review!
