Weak leadership and inexperienced management. Most of the key players in this company have been there literally for decades, and many have had no production experience outside of IVC. Many of the large accounts are 10+ years old as well. IVC caters to a market with a low appetite for risk and change, and this mindset filters down through all departments. They often talk of wanting to evolve and take risks, but no one is willing to make changes...including the top brass doing the talking about making changes. At the middle management levels the company is basically run like a sorority house, with a lot of non-confrontational infighting and whispered criticisms. Several employees spoke of this condition as a years-long constant. They have a strong dislike of direct feedback, and a toxic reaction to critique or debate. You are only encouraged to say nice things sweetly at IVC. If you ruffle anyone's feathers you will likely be ostracized and shown the door...and of course no real creative work or evolution can take place in that kind of environment. IVC only wants very nice, non-confrontational people on their team, regardless of talent or experience. All others aren't around for long.
