Pros

Everyone is friendly. Awesome internships and mentoring opportunities. They integrate analytics into every project.

Cons

Work/balance isn’t the best. High stress, fast-pace. It can be overwhelming when dealing with clients that are extremely demanding. There is somewhat of an unbalance between coworkers. They can sometimes be overstrained by the process and it can take longer than necessary to get things done.

Pros

THE GOOD: I worked with most of the +/-20 consultants The Lab employed and they were all very intelligent and hard-working. The environment keeps you on your toes which is great for people who enjoy a challenge. The list of clients they had in the past was very impressive. The pay is average. This could be a good solution for someone in need of short-term employment.

Cons

THE BAD: I didn’t like working at The Lab because everyone seemed to operate in a constant fear of getting fired. This fear took the focus off of solving the client’s real problems and placed it on “getting the numbers up” by any means necessary. I learned quickly that everyone was disposable. 90% of the consultants I met expressly stated they strongly dislike working at The Lab. I read previous reviews claiming that the turnover rate is between 100%-150%. I calculated the TO rate for myself and came up with 165% turnover Q3’14-Q3’15 period. THE UGLY: Lying is never appropriate in a professional environment; The Lab does not seem to be aware of this. They've lied when trying to get people to accept a job offer. I was lied to about the number of employees they have, the number of new deals they closed, their raise structure, and their vacation policy. Many of my coworkers said they were told similar lies. The Lab's methodology is faulty and they force you to apply these methods which you know will not do anything to actually help the client. It really becomes morally compromising. It's lying to promise a client things that won't be delivered.

Pros

Good clients. There are a few co-workers who are very good.

Cons

Run away. Very poor work environment and business model. Great clients to work with, but all your time is spent dealing with internal strife, which gives you no time (as in zero time!) with the client.

We are sorry that you did not adjust well to the way we operate and felt the need to voice your opinion anonymously online instead of with your manager. We make it very clear to all recruits that there are centralized functions (graphic design and analysis teams) that consultants MUST work with to complete project work. Some new hire consultants who are used to doing all analyses on their computers by themselves at previous jobs struggle with having external teams in the Houston office providing supporting analysis and doing quality control on their work.
