As a contractor, the client I was working for did not deliver the working experience I had expected. The work was not as fulfilling or enjoyable as it seemed it might have been. There was a lot of company politics. I didn't feel like I was going anywhere. For projects the client's client were not always constrained in what they were allowed to ask for causing at times for there to be additional work added to projects.

- Pay is bad - Paychex (who you’d probably work for) is offshoring devs and your job next year will be in jeopardy - No upward mobility - Tech stack is “not bad” but nobody knows how to write code here. They are all .net devs who write .net style code in Java. - Angular/react frontend is awful to develop, no hot reloading - Work is often pretty linear and boring, nothing “new” to learn. - The infrastructure that Paychex uses is often times broken. Hence common things like core applications, Jenkins, confluence, bit bucket are often times down or slow. - Everything and I mean everything is slow
