I worked at MultiCare Health System part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, decent hourly pay and shift differentials (you could make more elsewhere but the benefits are worth it), good staff to patient ratios even for CNA, great environmental services team so really clean, opportunities for overtime, many good learning opportunities for those CNAs interested in advancing in the industry.

    Cons

Management tends to micromanage too much. The drug test also tests for nicotine and they have a strict no smoking policy for employees (thought some still do and have been grandfathered in). They keep going back and forth between being strict and lax on their tattoo/piercing/haircolor dress code policies and it was really annoying every time they would try to revert back to the 20 year old dress code policy.

    Advice to Management

Piercings, tattoos and hair color don't determine whether someone is good at their job or not or whether a person is professional or not.

I have been working at MultiCare Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful Co-Workers who truly care about the Patients and Families.

    Cons

Management Turnover and Arbitrary implementation of new inefficient protocols and procedures. Inconsiderate of long term, established , and dedicated staff. Forced transition to Salary Pay to avoid paying out earned/deserved OT. Totalitarianism style Director/Leadership. Has become much more about the Bottom Line ( $$$) vs. Quality Patient Care.

    Advice to Management

Slow Down. Observe and Acknowledge all the Good things happening before trying to fix things that don't need fixing. Show appreciation of staff for positives before addressing areas needing improvement with a Negative Attitude.

    Cons

Low pay, high turnover rate, always introducing "new and great" policies that always seem to make everyone but higher managements life more difficult

    Pros

Good co-workers, plenty of OT if you want it, benefits solid

    Cons

Horrible staffing which impedes quality patient care

    Advice to Management

Quit making cuts that affects staffing and removing good nurse managers, while acting like you're working to provide high quality patient care, it's an oxymoron.

I have been working at MultiCare Health System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits (although getting worse every year)
    Pay

    Cons

Management too concerned about “patient satisfaction” scores and billing for exams not necessary to address any interpersonal issues between employees. Every meeting is a push to improve survey scores to get a bonus that we rarely get anymore. Physicians and management get their bonuses while the people who work the hardest get nothing. Don’t dare speak up to the injustice to patients that’s occurring they will find ways to reprimand you. They praise an environment free of retaliation but it’s completely false. Can’t wait for my last day. TOXIC!!

    Advice to Management

At this point nothing would help. The focus will always be on excessive billing for reimbursement and making the CEO, managers and physicians pockets fatter!

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing to keep employees happy.

I worked at MultiCare Health System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Well protected by the union as a bed side nurse. Excellent benefits and perks and support

    Cons

Not protected as a non exempt employee used and abused and then discarded once salary cap reached Despite exemplary performance reviews yearly. Discrimination of age and gender.

    Advice to Management

Find away to be able to retain long term employees with exemplary performance reviews that have reached the salary cap of said position due to excellent performance reviews and longevity and tuner. Non discrimination of age. Treat said employee with Multicare core values integrity respect kindness and collaboration- mostly collaboration, walk the walk and work with your employees and retention even though they now make too much money for being there too long

I have been working at MultiCare Health System (More than 3 years)

    Pros

excellent support staff. Quality of providers generally well above average

    Cons

leadership at all levels have become more toxic as the treat providers with increasing disrespect. willing to sacrifice patient safety and provider burnout to pursue patient satisfactions survey results and increase profits on the backs of providers with uncompensated work increases throughout the organization.

    Advice to Management

try working collaboratively with the providers who generate all your revenue. the current glide path will open opportunities for competitors to take your market share. Growth without a focus on excellence is a recipe for failure.
