I worked at MultiCare Health System part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, decent hourly pay and shift differentials (you could make more elsewhere but the benefits are worth it), good staff to patient ratios even for CNA, great environmental services team so really clean, opportunities for overtime, many good learning opportunities for those CNAs interested in advancing in the industry.

    Cons

Management tends to micromanage too much. The drug test also tests for nicotine and they have a strict no smoking policy for employees (thought some still do and have been grandfathered in). They keep going back and forth between being strict and lax on their tattoo/piercing/haircolor dress code policies and it was really annoying every time they would try to revert back to the 20 year old dress code policy.

    Advice to Management

Piercings, tattoos and hair color don't determine whether someone is good at their job or not or whether a person is professional or not.

I have been working at MultiCare Health System full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pharmacy technicians are union and have a great rep! If you are a nationally certified pharmacy tech you get a small bump in pay from the starting pay. Benefits are amazing. Health benefits start for full time employees after the first 30 days and include a 401k as well. Scrubs can be provided by the hospital, but you can also wear your own as well.
Breakfast in the cafeteria is great as well as they do offer the perfect bacon and many other things as well.

    Cons

Parking is not free, however it is VERY reasonable per month. But on the weekends the garages are open without having to pay.

I worked at MultiCare Health System part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Self-scheduling (as a Per Diem nurse), cafeteria discount, free employee parking. Nice employee package deal for Puyallup fair.

    Cons

You're just a number. Per Diem are treated like step-children and not paid retro-pay when new contract was in place. FTE staff required to work every other weekend (change the contract).

    Advice to Management

Listen to what employees want. Offer lower FTEs. Not everybody wants to work FT. Get a better handle on cattiness within the units.

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at MultiCare Health System part-time

    Pros

Good management, good schedules, good pay.

    Cons

Disorganized in general, lack of training, high turn over rate that results in the hiring of toxic co-workers, rewards for bad behavior, over worked management that affects entire department, lazy coworkers, introducing new methods with no training, disorganization creating opportunity for bad employees to advance.

    Advice to Management

learn to hire better people, don't reward bad behavior, keep having good schedules for employees. As an employee I generally observe the department as just getting by and displaying lackluster effort in implementing any change or providing any structure. I have a feeling alot of the problems stem from upper management placing demands on lower management that are unrealistic because these demands do not fit in to the reality of what is really happening in the lab.
