I worked at MultiCare Health System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits, Support from staff and Administration

    Cons

Some "old school" managers still left that micromanage.

    Advice to Management

Stop spending millions of dollars on trying different "hybrid lean management" models. Staff now call it the "flavor of the month". The original model with ALL the components of the Lean Management model works.

I worked at MultiCare Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great colleagues and talented, qualified mid-management.

    Cons

Sr Execs are disorganized and lack the ability to prioritize. CEO is completely detached from what is really going on. Sr leaders are petty, discriminate, play favorites and lack true leadership qualities. It is an organization that is ruled with fear and employees learn to not speak up to survive.

    Advice to Management

Realize you have a deeply passionate group of employees who see ways to improve. Let them express and lead - CEO council doesn’t know everything! Innovation is lost here because people are afraid to speak up.

    Workers are very friendly
So many units you can choose from if you get bored in one

    Current Employee - ER Nurse

I have been working at MultiCare Health System full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good coworkers. Most supervisors and managers are down to earth, remember working in the trenches, and are easy to talk to. Easier HR process than providence by far.

    Cons

Poorly designed ER. No tube system so over frequent trips off unit. Easily overrun with patients when other downtown hospital diverts (Deaconess virtually never diverts even when it should).
