Pros

I have found NHeLP to be my most supportive, friendly, and collaborative workplace to date. Work life balance is encouraged and staff are not expected to work the unsustainable hours that many public interest firms demand. I am a happy employee and intend to stay for a long time.

Cons

The organization started growing through a number of DEI challenges 6 or so years ago and is a much healthier workplace today, but still has room for growth, including promoting racial diversity in hiring, especially amongst policy staff, and hiring a Director of People and Culture (a long-standing promise to staff that was postponed until we complete an internal restructuring process). Opportunities for upward mobility are somewhat limited because we have a pretty flat management structure, but this has a lot of advantages in ownership and access to senior level mentors,
