Pros
If you are seeking employment here or considering accepting a job offer PLEASE read this review before making your decision: For starters, this company has a turnover rate across departments. The boss has a God complex and treats everyone like they are beneath him. Customers and employees included. He speaks to people like they are stupid and incompetent. Plenty of employees feel this way too and talk about it amongst one another but are too afraid to speak up and voice their concerns to the owner. People either quit entirely, stay because they feel they owe the company some sort of loyalty, or just stay working there while secretly not being able to STAND the owner and wanting to move on. The company also does not conduct business well, I suggest you look at the rating of the property management company and read the tenant reviews yourself on Google. Residential and commercial tenants alike cannot STAND the management company as they seem to not prioritize their tenants needs and the buildings they manage. On top of that, even the vendors that the company pays to do repairs at their properties will tell you how the owner is rude and unreachable. Vendors also mention that, because the company has such a big turnover rate, they never know who to contact because people quit so often. People in the office talk about each other behind their backs as well and just makes for an uncomfortable, high school like work culture as a whole. I also understand reviews can be very opinionated and emotionally charged. But I decided to write this review well past my time in this company to avoid writing a review just out of frustration and emotion. This is purely my perspective from a place of honest reflection and just to provide context for those who truly want to know if they are making the right decision or not! I have since moved on from this company and am working in an organization with great morals and values, where I am valued and respected as an employee. My current role and work environment makes me realize how TOXIC the work environment at North Oak truly was… And for a while I thought maybe it was me and that I was the problem but in reflection I can truly say this company has a toxic / uncomfortable environment. There was maybe one or two people I met at the company that were actually nice genuine people but even then there’s this unspoken tension and dislike for the owner that makes the work environment extremely uncomfortable. If you are looking to work here I suggest using the experience as a stepping stone or as a resume filler but this place definitely is not a long term career option in my opinion! The pros of working here are: the option to work remotely a few days out of the week and the office is in a nice area. Also, the company is understanding if you have kids or familial obligations that may come up where you need to take off.
Cons
-lack of respect and recognition for employees and the work that is put in -the owner has horrible leadership and communication skills -senior managers are gossipy and jealous/bitter of younger employees that come into the company -lack of opportunity to grow depending on your department -expectation to be the one to get all the backlash from the tenants because the owner does not like to be contacted or involved in any form of email or phone communication. The owner prefers to be absolutely unreachable to tenants. -lack of a genuine workplace culture that fosters support, collaboration, growth and respect
