Pros

One Call offers plenty of opportunity to progress within the company, giving you training and guidance along the way. Chances to get insurance based qualifications are available which the company pays for. The attendance bonus is a great incentive as well as the regular company events like the races and even the new feel good Fridays where the canteen is turned into a social venue for staff and directors! There is never a dull day at One Call, its a fast paced, fast growing business where the directors make every effort to ensure staff moral is high and take the time to mingle with employees at every event. New to the company this year is the One Call Gym which is free for employees to use.

Cons

The car park (compound) isn't tarmac'd but its not that bad as only a minute away across the road.

Pros

Attendance bonus, unless they take it away from you.. which they probably will.

Cons

Management, increasing targets so no one can hit them, atmosphere, unpaid training, training isn't great just a 40 minute teams call. Very catty and petty work colleagues. Belittled and made to feel small. Error logging is so petty. No help given, when I was grieving just told to pull myself together.

Pros

Not one positive point that I can think of

Cons

Absolutely shocking experience I started employment February 2020 at One Call Claims, completed my workplace training and was put on the phones to take first notification of loss calls, 2 weeks later lockdown happened and all employees were furloughed in line with government guidelines, was advised we would all receive furlough pay and that we were to return back to the office as soon as they received news from the government Payday arrives, and I discover that no furlough pay has been paid to myself, only to find out an hour or so later that I wasn’t eligible for any furlough pay due to one call not getting my details to HMRC in time, of course at this late stage all of the part time jobs and supermarkets etc had been taken up by others that needed to get by through the lockdown. Myself along with the 7 others who started at the same time were left without any wages to get through the lockdown, with no help whatsoever from the company. Government restrictions started to lift and we were brought back in. Couple of months later I progress onto another team where I constantly hit the highest tier (gold) for 3 months, awarded start of the month. Coincidentally the powers that be at the top decide to then change the SPI’s that you had to hit so it was nigh on impossible to even hit the middle tier I imagine that they had not factored in that I was on the upper end of minimum wage (due to being over 23) and compared to majority of the workforce being under 21, the gold tier payment had cost them more to pay myself, so the only way to stop paying extra is to change the tiers. I did question this at the time with senior management but this did not warrant me any favours. One call were subject to a cyber attack which meant they couldn’t operate but due to a clause in everyone’s contracts, meant that they could temporarily put people on forced leave and didn’t have to pay for the time that you were off, so be wary of this too Due to the tiers being nigh on impossible to hit, I decided I wanted to move to a different team, so I started in a post on the broker side of the group ‘one call insurance’ once I had moved over I then was told that any notice period that I would have to work (if I found employment elsewhere) was 3 months, this of course was non negotiable and that then it was too late to say no. About 8 months later in the new year, i developed a back injury, due to time off I was informed that I would lose my attendance allowance (the monthly £100 bonus that they pay each month) for the full year. I wasn’t quite sure how they agreed that this was fair as you cannot help being ill/injured. With all the stress I had also developed shingles, management did nothing to support this and just shunned it off as if it wasn’t a genuine medical concern Thankfully I managed to find gainful employment elsewhere a couple of months later, where I feel genuinely appreciated, paid fairly and my mental health and wellbeing is the best it’s been for a good few years. The company also attempted to deduct £250 off of my final wage saying this was for my staff door fob and computer equipment, where in fact this was all accounted and signed for when I left, so unsure why they thought to try take it from me, I did manage to get the money refunded but this was after showing them concrete evidence so they didn’t have a leg to stand on…so make sure that when you leave you have everything documented In short, the worst job I’ve had, I wouldn’t return here even if it was the last job on earth

Pros

Good benefits, attendance bonus, incentives throughout the year and many charity events.

Cons

Communication is lacking between management and higher ups. Non-customer facing roles tend to have less respect in terms of work put in.

Pros

Fantastic team of people to work with, always work together to get things pushed out and up & running. Flexible lunch breaks. Cheap coffee for those tiring and frustrating times. Cigarette breaks between start of shift, lunch; and lunch and end of shift. Friendly banter between the team constantly to boost morale. Opportunity to progress further in the company in the future. Flexible shift start time after 6 month probation. Free on-site gym (available after 6 month probation). Can use phone for music or spotify on your computer to help with concentration.

Cons

Pay is generally the same regardless of department. You lose attendance bonus once you start earning over a certain salary.

Pros

Members of staff were friendly, managers could be if you knew how to get on with them, most normally took out their stress on the staff, not the managers fault though to be honest due to the amount of pressure put on them by higher level management.

Cons

Pretty much everything else, un-even pay structure, loyalty poorly rewarded where it counts, punished for trying to help. In order to receive "gold" tier pay (£19k) in my roll i was expected to be 100% perfect in every aspect of my job along with an additional 5 hours worked per week on top of my contract whereas sales staff had to just be average to be paid £6k more than our top rate. There are very few things that i could be positive about for this company. Constantly overlooked for any kind of progression unless you want to work 50 hours per week. You have 1hour for lunch and breaks which can be split into 45 minutes for lunch and 15 for break, you could loose your attendance bonus if you went over that 15 minutes for break even if you were under on you lunch by 20 minutes.
