A great mission let down by CEO and Senior Management

Pros

The work done with farmers and the mission behind Pact is great.

Cons

The CEO and Leadership team are openly untrusting of staff and unsupportive. It is quite a boys club, there for women especially are treated quite patronisingly. The HR consultant is explicitly company first Staff second, so support is minimal and issues that arise are solved with a company bias. Office culture and moral seems generally low because of this. There are little to no benefits, no sick pay, no health care, no bonus scheme and only the most basic pension scheme. Much of what the policy's claim to be allowed are generally not when it comes to requesting them. There is no real growth/learning opportunities or chances to learn or improve within a career here.

It's too important to stay the way it's been

Pros

Pact are still a really important company. The coffee and higher moral standard of paying farmers a fair wage is admirable and should be celebrated more. There exists a strong group of talented and interesting people who I loved working with.

Cons

Anyone familiar with the work of Simon Simek will understand the concept of 'leaders eating last', which I would interpret as doing everything in their power to ensure that the team below them were supported and given everything they needed to achieve. At Pact, I didn't get the reservation. In my case, I (and the agencies we worked with) were managed out and given very loose reasons as to why - replaced by friends and trustees. This happened with no previous negative comment on my performance, three weeks after my probation had finished, a day after my holiday, and without HR representation present. Heartless and wrong for a company who live and die by their strong ethics.

Pros

Free mars bars (when they can be bothered to order them)

Cons

-0 hours contract - they will send you home at 10am unpaid if they don't need you - Management tried to stop us going to the toilet on shift until all of the staff complained. - Management called a co-worker fat -Patronising head office who occasionally visit - one time they got us all to stand up and give ourselves a round of applause for our hard work.
