Pros

There are some talented coworkers who genuinely cared about their work and are great to be around. The office was conveniently located near public transit and food amenities, which made commuting easier.

Cons

Management plays dirty political games and has favorites that can do no wrong. Although, Leadership claims to make changes to help this. The benefits are not comparable to most any other place to work and as a result are very expensive for the employee. PS. they lie about it during interviews. The pay is below industry standards, with leadership expressing no actual raise increase beyond 2% after 1-3 years depending on your situation. The funding has been cut but other avenues have been mentioned/used. Who knows if it'll be here in 3 years. Work life balance is good for some, hard for others because some people have a lot to do and others have nothing to do. High turnover creates constant instability and stress. Investing in training for someone to quit or get laid off is strenuous. Real feedback is ignored so you just stop, because you know it won't actually change anything.

Dysfunctional Culture and Lack of Direction

Pros

The core technology has strong potential and could be a net positive for the world if developed and implemented thoughtfully. There are a few passionate, intelligent individuals who genuinely care about the work and want to see it succeed.

Cons

Where to begin? The leadership culture is deeply problematic — gossip and negative talk about employees and peers seemed commonplace, creating a toxic environment. It wasn’t just unprofessional; it felt downright juvenile, more akin to playground behavior than a functioning workplace. At a higher level, the company lacks clear identity and focus. It’s unclear whether the goal is to operate as a cutting-edge R&D lab or a scalable manufacturing outfit — and that confusion trickles down. Departments often operated in silos, sometimes even refusing to collaborate or share resources, not due to logistics but seemingly out of territorialism or resentment. There are individuals in key roles who’ve been allowed to behave inappropriately without accountability. This sets a dangerous precedent and reinforces the broader cultural issues. There are some smart, capable people here doing their best, but they’re often overshadowed by the dysfunction at the top.

Pros

Such a good atmosphere to work in, Cayden has been amazing with onboarding, he got back to me so quickly during the interview and offering me the position, I felt such a good vibe even from the interview. Everyone has been so welcoming. The benefits are amazing and coming from a previous toxic work environment this job is a night and day difference.
