Pros

Puget is a highly ethical, spontaneous, and open company. They love their product (custom built computers), like their customers, and are committed to being the best small business they can. The owner (Jon Bach) is very open and very willing to listen. Very open lines of communication. The company is spontaneous, there is little in the way of set guidelines or processes. You'll have plenty of freedom to do your job, and new ideas are encouraged. Working schedules are also extremely flexible, and the dress code is casual. The owning family are Christians. They're not aggressive religiously, but they do run a clean ship - no foul language, no rough jokes, and I saw very few instances of unethical behavior. If you like playing with high end PC hardware and like small businesses, Puget is a good one.

Cons

Puget is a very tight family-run business. If you're not related to the Bachs, don't expect to be able to influence the direction of the company and don't expect to be promoted to management. Jon Bach (the owner) is a fantastic person and I have confidence in him as the leader of the business - but his family will always come first, and will always overrule you, regardless of individual merit.

Puget Systems Response

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback! I just wanted to respond to the comment about those outside the Bach family being unable to influence company direction or be promoted. While I can see the seed of truth to that back in the 2005 era when we were much smaller, I can say with confidence that is not the case today. If you interview for a position here, we give you the opportunity in the final interview to ask questions of our staff with no management present, and if this is a concern to you, I encourage you to ask about it!

Plenty of Opportunity

Pros

Puget Systems is a small company that is growing quickly. With that, there is plenty of opportunity here. If you are passionate about something and it fits within the company's goals, more often than not, the project is yours. It is incredibly rewarding to work in an environment where new ideas and projects aren't just welcomed and encouraged but they also ensure that you have the tools you need to succeed. So as long as you are willing to put in the work and run with the ball, there is endless opportunity here at Puget Systems.

Cons

The cons of working at Puget Systems actually stem directly from the pros of working here. Due to the fact that it is a small company, it isn't going to go unnoticed if you aren't holding your own here. So if you are looking for a place where you can "just get by", this might not be it. They encourage everyone to push themselves and go above and beyond with everything they do.

Pros

The pay was pretty good depending on your position. For the most part it is comparable with industry standards. Warehouse department is fast past work and allows you to work with your hands which makes for very enjoyable days. Support department while busy, always offers new challenges and teammates are eager to help. Sales department workflow is similar to support and really enjoyable if you enjoy using your knowledge of parts and systems and software to help others. Many opportunities for learning new things and managers and coworkers always lets you take on more responsibility if you want it. Lots of freedom to find interesting ways to contribute. Breakroom has a full kitchen with a stove, large fridge and many cooking materials. Company often does potlucks or get together which is really nice. Very clean and private bathrooms and the entire building is clean. Almost every employee is very friendly. The company cares about the quality of the computers and the whole experience so it is really easy to get behind the company mission and to be 100% in alignment with values. Managers are very understanding if you choose to leave the company and work out a schedule with you. Opportunities to go on paid trips to events and to learn new things. Unlimited and free coffee and soda all the time. Often lunch will be bought for you, very cool. Health insurance was good. Jon and his family are all so nice! Warehouse Manager is very good about catching issues in QC and letting you know about it. Most co-workers are very friendly. Training is very encouraged and they may pay for it as well.

Cons

Management sometimes requires you to do non job duty projects that sometimes cannot be done during work hours so it requires working on at home or making you feel like you cant spend time on what you should be. More responsibilities can be added to you with no added pay or discussion. Can be a very stressful workplace on busy days because people feel overworked. Traffic can be a bit of a pain around Auburn. Managers do not always communicate positive and negative feedback to you unless it is a boiled up frustration that has existed for a bit. Very little parking spaces available unless you arrive in the early morning. Different departments are sometimes too busy to effectively communicate so mistakes happen.
