Pros
This is a small operation where you get to know everyone really well. The principle engineers are all super friendly and laid back. The work is varied and really interesting and even as a contract consultant you can have a large impact on a project that you might not have with larger firms
Cons
Work load fluctuates, hard to treat it as steady employment
