Pros

On the smaller scale, the work culture is amazing a real joy to work alongside great people who are very kind. It's a very flexible role and they are very welcoming They offer some courses for upskill

Cons

Internal promotions can be a bit of a popularity contest same with overtime and hour increases Customers are quite bad even for customer service standards (entitled, impatient, patronising or just with poor listening and communication skills) while this isn't the companies fault entirely it is a factor to be considered and of course there are plently of lovely customers as with any role in this industry The higher ups in the company are completely disconnected from reality and this is the big one imo. They push things that make no sense, stock replenishment can seem completely random and not based on what the store needs often leading to shortages of the most basic products, they're currently pushing for even more flexible contract and part time contracts. On one hand they seemed obsessed with cutting costs while trying to open as many new branches as possible and the main interaction most staff will have with the higher ups are videos we're made to watch of them doing made parodys of TV shows and other things, spending god knows how much on multiple venues and actors while expressing zero intent to raise wages or give better contracts. They are on cloud nine while their workers struggle it's quite jarring to see how brazenly they can talk about record profits then they'll cut store hours. They cut hundreds of hours per store during covid and despite as I say current record profits they're intent to keep lowering the hours so everything runs on the bare minimum it can to just about function

Growing company, but staff feels undervalued and overworked

Pros

Growing company leading the market

Cons

The company doesn’t care about people as it use to. Long working weeks for full timers. Management working too many weekends to have a balanced family work life. Training is getting poorer as it s all online . There is not much human shadowing. You only hear when you ve done something wrong even when sales are hitting the roof. Customers are pushed to shop digitally losing human interaction. We could recruit more people to meet all expectations ( and they are becoming more and more) considering how much profit the company is making thanks to us. Money are invested in infrastructure and ridiculous conferences when the real engine (the staff) could get a little more or get a better work family life balance
