Great Mission, Terrible Management

Pros

The mission is inspiring, thats about it.

Cons

The most disorganized and exhausting environments I’ve ever worked in. Leadership sets unrealistic expectations, communication is inconsistent and flat out mean, and role turnover is high for a reason. Management constantly micromanaged minor details while ignoring bigger operational issues. Employees are expected to read minds and mimic tones of those who don't want to write their own emails, operate in constant urgency, and somehow execute perfectly with little guidance or structure. Leaders are condescending and rude. The mission is meaningful, but passion only goes so far when leadership lacks organization, boundaries, and people-management skills.

So much room for improvement

Pros

Cool internal team, great community work, awesome mission, opportunities to network externally, cool food, “unlimited” PTO (also a con)

Cons

high burnout rate, overwork middlemen, high turnover rate, little room for career growth, no HR, gaslighting, lack of professional boundaries, use of “unlimited” PTO resorts to guilt tripping, little to no exec involvement at a coordinator level, lack of exit accountability, short staffed, working weekends, passive aggressive behavior from high up, low pay, low benefits
