Pros
A major benefit of working at such a small startup has been wearing multiple hats and gaining experience in an entire product pipeline. Good location, convenient fast food options nearby. Great experience for someone looking to start their own laboratory one day, as it shows the good and the bad being such a small startup. There was a more positive outlook before I left, as it seems someone with actual management experience was hired. The science being done is still cutting edge for the field.
Cons
Lack of management training lead to frequent instances of managers behaving poorly. Lower than industry avg for salary. Benefits are not competitive (no tuition repayment matching/assistance, no 401K, no dental/vision, no FSA). Sick days count as your vacation days, so it's either don't get sick or if you get sick you get no vacation. No equity in company despite it being such a small startup.

Convenient commute, location in USF Research Park, experienced and bright research staff. Great research resources and equipment. Diverse research staff. LGBT friendly.
Cons
Low pay and no benefits. Disorganized management and lack of leadership. It is a start up so that is understandable but it can be very difficult.
