My experience working at this company was extremely disappointing, and I ultimately decided to leave due to the unreasonable extension of my probation period. The company failed to provide a valid justification—instead, they extended it simply because my direct manager had left, and they were hiring a new employee. Their reasoning was that they wanted to observe how I would interact with this new hire. However, the presence of a new employee had no impact on my responsibilities. My work remained the same, and if an extension was necessary, a valid reason should have been my performance or areas for improvement, not the onboarding of someone else.
Additionally, before joining, I was informed that my role was to support senior colleagues. However, after I started, both seniors resigned, leaving me to take over their responsibilities. My manager assured me that if I passed the probation period, my salary would be adjusted to 3,500. Yet, during a final discussion with the General Manager, he had the audacity to ask, “What difference does it make whether you are confirmed or not?” The difference is clear—without confirmation, I wouldn’t receive annual leave, and my probation salary was only 2,800 (after EPF deductions, just 2,300). Even more shocking, he claimed that the salary adjustment was merely a verbal promise from my previous manager, and the company never officially agreed to it. He even mocked me, saying, “Next time, make sure to get it in writing. Your manager is gone—who’s going to back you up now?”
To make matters worse, I witnessed multiple colleagues resigning in a short period, yet the management showed no intention of reflecting on the situation. They made no effort to address underlying issues or improve working conditions, allowing employees to leave without a second thought. This lack of integrity and poor management has left me completely disillusioned with the company.
On top of that, I was frequently required to work at midnight due to job demands, yet there was no overtime pay or proper compensation. Despite working outside of regular hours, the company never acknowledged the extra effort or provided any form of financial recognition. This lack of respect for employees’ time further proved how little they valued their staff.
For anyone considering joining this company, I strongly advise ensuring that all promises are documented formally. Otherwise, you might find yourself in a similarly unfair situation.
