Bad workplace in general

Pros

Cohesive team, due to trauma bonding. Not a good place to learn any real skills or industry practices

Cons

Management only cares about their own bottom line and making you fight their fires at the cost of your sanity

Great CEO and manager but...

Pros

New CEO is friendly and approachable, passionate about improving the company. Pay and benefits are generous, and OT is compensated. Mostly hybrid work culture, very swift approval when asked on requests for work-efficiency tool upgrades. People are very invested and loyal to their work. Manager is knowledgable, understanding when you approach for help on non-project matters and looks out for your future development in company and interest in certain projects. There is a vested interest in retaining staff from upper echelon.

Cons

Lack of proper order in the company with projects, internal organisation and handover process for new staff. Their way of work is to 'learn on the job', but peer colleagues are as clueless on how ethical and proper companies in the corporate world operate and accept disorganisation, and the rationale of "wearing many hats at one go". Colleagues will ask you to OT and suddenly rush you on projects at work cutoff time at 6 p.m., and you will be pressured to do OT and will often have no time to yourself. This speaks of poor time management and organisation skills as a whole. Colleagues also feel pressured to do unpaid OT before OT clock in time starts out of gratitude for 'family culture' and 'trust' in them for providing more bonuses and benefits than typical SMEs, which isn't worth your time, mental health, and social life. Despite how my direct management tries to encourage a work-life balance, this sadly isn't the case in practice and people feel pressured. One colleague was unprofessional, uncooperative, misogynistic, had no respect for company hierarchy below the C-suite and upper management, and would disrespect ranked seniors, even in front of clients. This was not known by management for the most part. Colleagues would also gossip about clients behind their backs and even about fellow colleagues, making for a very unprofessional and 'toxic' work culture. Very ironic given the religious values most colleagues claim to espouse and are proud of which also serve as a pressure and contradictory moral standard in the company.
