65% positive business outlook
Pros
- Amazing Colleagues - Culture was positive, supportive, and fun - Excellent management style with regular check-ins and communication
Cons
- Rapid staff growth made it hard to keep up with changes - IPO seemed unnecessary
Pros
There is generally a lot of flexibility -- in terms of how, where you work -- and opportunity for self-starters. Great mission, good colleagues, and beautiful office.
Cons
It used to be a great place to work, it now feels like a very hollow version of its old self. The culture and people who made it what it was are largely gone. The product vision and sense of what makes us unique are very murky. The pay and benefits are almost exactly middle of the road, but the risk is fairly high -- 2.5 major layoffs in the last 18 months.
Pros
- kind and talented colleagues who are trying to do their best work - professional fulfillment in serving education entrepreneurs - interesting problem space - good benefits/perks
Cons
- hyper-focus on profitability over customer value - a total lack of company vision and strategy in a saturated market is a recipe for burnout - toxic positivity from leadership does not foster trust and sucks the energy out of talented people
Pros
Permanent WFH Fantastic PTO policy that people actually use Friendly and collaborative colleagues
Cons
The company has struggled to find its footing
Pros
Inspiring colleagues, open minded people, no micromanagement
Cons
Customers are tough to deal with, lots of MLM customers
Pros
- Decent benefits package - Most of your colleagues are great - Ok pay
Cons
- Poor management which led to 100 people being laid off (I'm honestly not sure how this wasn't seen coming) - Favouritism amongst team leads (people who bring in their friends from other companies, then will give them preferential treatment such as ALWAYS letting them skip phone/chat shifts) - Lack of transparency - Some racism in higher roles - Hiring for roles that they just let people go from - They say they believe in "radical candor" but if you try and fix something it will get you in trouble.
Pros
- Great colleagues -- to a person everyone i work with is super talented at what they do and great to work with. No a-holes and no duds. - Opportunity to make an impact -- the company is neither a start-up nor a rinse and repeat machine. All the fundamentals are in place, we've got a great team and are very well resourced, and yet there remain many big challenges to solve. - Open minded culture - relatedly, there is a willingness to challenge the status quo, to test assumptions, and try new ideas
Cons
It can be a rollercoaster -- nothing for the faint of heart or those who need a lot of structure and stability. The market and industry has changed dramatically in the last year, and so our plans and team have had to adjust rapidly, which is not easy.
Pros
-decent benefits -flexible vacation, hours etc. -nice colleagues trying their best
Cons
-leadership completely misaligned with what's told to departments -frequent sudden, unexplained changes in mandates (esp since IPO) -lack of transparency from top-down -horrible growth strategy, reliant on unsustainable pandemic growth -inexperienced leadership and managers, they're nice when things are good, but when things go wrong (layoffs, recession, big changes) they completely flounder -pay is quite low for tech industry, esp with stock price all our stock options are now worthless -benefits and perks are being reduced i.e. lunch spend, technology budget
Pros
Some great colleagues Flexible work hours and remote options Decent pay and benefits
Cons
Lots of politics and a leadership team that seems lost and overwhelmed by the challenges of running a public company Completely different culture than they used to have and from what the advertise The company says it cares about diversity and inclusion but the make up of the executive team and board suggest otherwise
Pros
The team culture is a huge plus. It’s a very healthy, supportive work environment where you feel like people have your back. There’s a high level of collaboration, and colleagues are always willing to jump in and help
Cons
As the company grows, it feels like there is an increasing amount of corporate overhead and focus on social policy. While well-intentioned, these programs can sometimes pull focus away from our core product mission and the practical problems we are here to solve.
