Pros
Supports work-life balance, flexible hours if you need them, like come in early, leave early, great for people with families or other life responsibilities. A lot of long term employees (some with 40+ years of experience), great for mentoring in the trades. Job stability. Benefits and RRSP matching, can't complain. Wages are fair considering it's a typical Monday-Friday, and OT when it's there and you want it. Culture could be better, but it's what you would expect when everyone's worked with each other for 10-30 years, either get along or you don't, but everyone's still really respectful and management/foreman are easy to talk to.
Cons
If you want to advance you have to be a bit patient, either for people to retire or if a position opens up. Opportunity and learning is there, but most people run specific machines, and learn others as necessary. Safety is important, certified with COR, but some people are complacent or set in their ways when it comes to housekeeping or not thinking ahead for the next person.
