RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at ZapLabs full-time for less than a year
Pros
The best part about working at Zaplabs is the team. We have a small but fun and knowledgeable team of technical support specialist. Management allows for a flexible schedule. They are also building great technology for the Real Estate Market as a whole.
Cons
Zaplabs is part of the larger company Realogy. Realogy didn't design zap so they don't have the same insights around features and process as the founders did. The company is no longer a start up and you can tell. But it is provides a solid service for Real Estate Agents.

Pros
Amazing people, great location, perfect work-life balance, latest tech stack, awesome catered lunch (not anymore though, thanks to our great CTO)
Cons
1. No growth anymore 2. Lack of vision 3. Office politics (after the management changed) 4. Poor compensation 5. Limited PTOs (10 days/year) 6. No more work from home 7. Worst health benefits 6. No transparency from upper management 7. Constant layoffs 8. No in-house HR or recruiter 9. ZERO interest from the parent company (Realogy) to fill the current empty positions 10. Remaining few had to fill in the work for those who were laid off, without any extra pay or promotion 11. Openly lying to the board and to the world about current progress and update (Amazon tie-up) The list goes on and on...

"Great People. CTO not so great"

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookI worked at ZapLabs full-time
Pros
The people at zaplabs are great! everyone was so helpful and everyone are very talented. Work life balance is great too specially that they allow people to work from home when needed.
Cons
The CTO's presence was awful. He told people that there wont be anymore layoffs after the 1st one in January, and then went on to layoff most of the engineering people 6 months after. There is no new product, everything is so sketchy. People dont know what's in store for them...except the data team which seems to be the golden team at zaplabs.

Pros
The coworkers are nice, polite, and one of the best parts about the place. It is also a great environment to learn a lot.
Cons
Lack of transparency in upper management (particularly the parent company).

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI have been working at ZapLabs full-time for more than a year
Pros
The vision is to internally disrupt the real estate space, and make technology the value proposition for real estate agents, who haven't relied on technology to provide services
Cons
Internal politics, and the presence of 20th century brand managers make it impossible to drive an engineering & product driven culture. Senior leaders think of Zaplabs as the "IT team".

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at ZapLabs full-time for more than a year
Pros
Wonderful people before most of them were let go or left for (much) greener pastures. Smart coworkers. Positive culture. Decent benefits. Acceptable pay. Excellent commute for East Bay folks.
Cons
Parent company hadn't learned how to work with ZapLabs and led to ZL becoming the scapegoat for its issues. Now has let go a chunk of the team that was honestly planning and starting to create some cool, promising stuff. Led team on to believe it believes in the Emeryville team but then dropped the news of layoffs one morning, said it's also the team's last day. I get it that business is business but why even pretend like it believed in the ZapLabs team when this was going to be the end? Really, I don't mind the layoffs. I do mind the sense of falsehood that Realogy entertained with us that there was a real chance for things to turn around and look up. Ultimately, grateful for the opportunities Realogy and ZapLabs provided. Saddened by the turn of events. Disappointed that the trust never had a chance to be rebuilt from the tough transitions of the past few years. Life goes on, honestly hopeful for ZapLabs' future but also maybe personally relieved to move on.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI have been working at ZapLabs full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
If you are in Data Science field, this place is growing their teams. These teams are humming by just fine. Quiet work environment. Not a lot of people talking out loud for an open office setup. Great views of SF cityscape, Oakland, and Berkeley and walking paths from the office along the bay and marina. Easily commutable East Bay location. Company paid parking garage.
Cons
Perks and benefits are not competitive. No Catered lunch Tue/Thu. It is No longer a perk. Parent company has halted this in-house software team including their development and design teams. If you are not on the data science teams, there is only job instability and uncertainty due to multiple large rounds of layoffs. Mediocre business product, abysmal product experience for the end-user, and chaotic internal processes. Newly instated processes are driving productivity backwards instead of progressing in efficiency. Bring lunch from home because eating out is expensive, low variety and not easily accessible by foot.
