Pros
inkl aims to fix the information gap created by market failure in the news industry. It is a hugely ambitious startup, with a very smart and passionate team. The company is extremely data-driven and transparent in how it operates. It has a very egalitarian structure where everyone is able and encouraged to share their views openly. The team relies heavily on individuals to assume responsibility and ownership of their areas, operating independently as much as possible. The core team has been together for a while and has developed a very strong and supportive culture.
Cons
As with any startup there are challenges in terms of moving fast, juggling multiple priorities, and having limited ability to make long-term forecasts. It is not a 9-to-5 environment - both because of the 24/7 nature of news and because it is a startup. The team works hard, and has high expectations of each other, so this is an environment that will suit people who are ambitious, career-oriented and willing to go the extra mile. On the other hand, the business is generous with equity compensation and provides opportunities for development that would not be available elsewhere. So there is ample reward for people who are willing to make the investment in time and effort.
