Does Centene offer parental leave?

Pros

Although they brag about diversity, nearly all of the top promotions and bonus pool allocation goes to men. They provide great care for customers, not for employees. They Will tell you you have a 20% bonus target as a senior Director – that’s not actually true, because they use a bell curve grading scale that makes it impossible for anyone but the pets to get that amount.

Cons

I have literally never been at a company that is so obvious about the fact that it doesn’t care about its employees. Especially for a healthcare company, the insurance benefits and maternity leave are terrible and not market. They will only pay five days until the short term disability policy that YOU buy (which is capped at 60% of your pay) kicks in. And even that is only six weeks. Ever had a C-section? You can guess how that works out. When other Fortune 25 companies are offering four-six months paid, Centene gives you five days. Nothing if you are a co-parent. Centene should be embarrassed and ashamed of itself. “improving the health of the community” only applies if you don’t work there. They also tell you you have a 20% bonus target as a senior Director – that’s not actually true, because they use a bell curve grading scale that makes it impossible for anyone but the pets to ever get that amount. Then, after you have killed yourself for a year to try and get an “exceeds”, they tell you “it’s a very high scale.” Literally a perfect review…but not enough.

Advice to Management

Put your money where your mouth is about caring about your employees. Show that you actually care about women by providing market maternity leave coverage. Don’t hide the ball on bonuses. And do some thing about the favoritism in promotions across the company. There are a lot of us to are doing good work and yet still get passed over in favor of people who don’t do as much but who are friends with management.
