I had applied from their website for a 1 year student placement, after a couple of weeks, I was invited to complete the digital interview.
Digital Interview:
This was an online interview session where I was asked 9 questions.
The first 6 were competency-based, where I had 3 minutes to answer each question and 2 tries for each question. I don't recall all the questions but here are a few that I remember from the first 6:
- About myself and why I chose a career at this field
- Key reasons for applying with Accenture
- A difficult situation I came across and how I dealt with it
- Similar question to - why me for the job?
The next 2 questions were programming tasks where I had 20 minutes to complete each task. I was given most of the code and I just had to implement a small bit of it. The programming language I used was Java.
1. Hash maps - the program inserted repeated keys to the hash map, I had to rectify that error so when the same key is inserted, it increments its value instead of inserting the key.
2. Not exactly sure of the second question but it was something like this (example question):
print numbers from 0 to an input value, if the number is a multiple of 3, print 'F', if it is a multiple of 5, print 'B', if it's a multiple of both, print 'F B'.
Tbh, I don't think it really matters if you fail to answer a question correctly, as long as you attempted it and your logic was right.
Finally, the last question was my personal experience with the interview and the programming tasks (2 minutes, 2 retries).
I received a reply back after about 5-6 weeks saying I am invited to the assessment center, this is where I had a really bad experience.
My experience (all this happened within a week):
Tuesday: I received a call at about 12pm saying I am invited to the assessment center which is on 4th May, I told them I have an exam on that day but I will talk to my teacher and get back to them the same day. They agreed.
At 5pm I emailed them back saying my exam is rescheduled so they could book me in for the assessment center.
Thursday: I got no reply for two days, so I tried calling them (2 different numbers), both were not reachable, so I left a voice mail.
Friday: I emailed them back asking for my confirmation to attend the assessment center.
Saturday: Exact same thing as Thursday. Then I emailed them back again from a different email as well.
Tuesday: I called them again and someone finally answered, I told him about what exactly happened and he said he will talk to the head of the careers department and they will give me call the same day, if not then the next day.
Wednesday: The assessment center being the next day, I had to call them back at around 4pm, the same person answered and said that he was surprised I didn't receive a call yet, he checked and my name was not on the list for the assessment center. He then said he will personally talked to the careers department and email me back the same day, he didn't.
Later that night, I emailed them saying that I will attend the assessment center as I have not been getting any replies from the emails I sent.
Thursday (assessment day): I purchase a train ticket and literally while I am waiting for the train, I receive a call from the careers department saying they just saw my email and apologizing for not replying back for the other emails. Then I was told, the assessment center was fully booked for that day and were unable to put me in. The solution for this was, they will book me in for the next assessment center, however, they are not sure when exactly that is!
Also they were willing to compensate for the train ticket I purchased. I asked her to email me our conversation and confirm the interview and she said she'll do it right away. It's 11pm and I still haven't received anything!
I am an international student and I have already booked my flight back for next week. Accenture was the ONLY company I applied to, and their response was very unprofessional! It's too late to apply anymore so I guess I'll just have to complete my third year :(
